6-year-old among 3 killed in crash on North Central Expressway in Richardson

Multi-vehicle crash shut down U.S. Highway 75 in Richardson for hours Friday morning.

A multi-vehicle crash overnight on North Central Expressway in Richardson killed three people, including a six-year-old girl, according to authorities.

The crash in the 3400 block of North Central Expressway in Richardson shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. 75 near the President George Bush Turnpike into morning rush hour.

Shortly before midnight Friday, officers received a call about a stalled Cadillac SUV in the south HOV lane, according to the Richardson Police Department. But before officers arrived, a Lexus SUV crashed into the rear of the Cadillac SUV. A Dodge sedan later crashed into the back of the Lexus. The Dodge then struck a Nissan sedan, which was also hit by an 18-wheeler.

The Cadillac SUV had seven people who were standing outside the vehicle when the Lexus hit it, according to police. Alyia Khalid, 19, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, died at the scene. The occupants of the Lexus — 27-year-old Haley Taylor and her 6-year-old daughter — were taken to hospitals where they were pronounced dead.

The driver and four other passengers in the Cadillac were injured and taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Richardson police said.

Two additional vehicles were damaged by debris from the crash, police said, but no occupants in those vehicles reported injuries.

At 8:40 a.m., Richardson police said the expressway was back open.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
