Crashes snarl morning traffic on Central Expressway, I-35E, I-635

Major crashes slow Friday morning rush hour traffic.

Several major crashes on Dallas freeways have slowed Friday morning traffic on North Central Expressway, Interstate 635, Interstate 35E and Interstate-30.

Dallas police and fire-rescue units responded to major crashes at the interchanges for U.S. 75 and I-635, as well as I-35E and I-635. A stopped vehicle and several Dallas Fire-Rescue units could be seen on Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras on I-30, near the interchange with I-35E, but it appeared to be cleared by 7:45 a.m.

The TxDOT crash map also showed an accident on I-635 near Centerville Road, which appeared to cause closure of three lanes by about 8 a.m.

The crashes caused backups on the major Dallas highways, with TxDOT traffic cameras showing cars lined up on the freeway. The TxDOT crash map showed lanes closed at the wrecks at the interchanges of I-635 and I-35E and U.S. 75 and I-635, but lanes appeared to be opened by 8 a.m.

A Dallas police spokesperson said the crash at the I-635 and I-35E interchange occurred just before 6 a.m. and involved three vehicles, while the crash at the U.S. 75 and I-635 interchange happened at about 6:50 a.m. and was a single vehicle crash. No major injuries were reported in either wreck, police said.
