Mild days in store for Dallas-Fort Worth, before chance of rain enters the forecast for several days

The greatest chance for showers and storms will be Thursday, when a cold front is expected to move through North Texas.

Enjoy the nice weather — until it runs out. Several days of rain are possible in Dallas-Fort Worth this week.

Tuesday is expected to be dry and mild, with highs in the 70s, but chances for rain will return Wednesday, KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Grant Johnston said.

“A dry week to start out, but we’ll finish the week on a wet note,” he said.

Still, the chance of rain Wednesday will be low. The odds for showers and storms will get better Thursday, when a cold front is expected to move through North Texas, according to Johnston.

Some storms that develop that day could be strong, the National Weather Service says. Severe weather is unlikely, but gusty winds and small hail can’t be ruled out, the Weather Service said in a forecast update.

Rain is expected to last much of the day Thursday, with up to 1.5 inches likely, according to the Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue Friday, but they should decrease in intensity and coverage throughout the day.

After highs in the 70s Thursday, Friday is expected to be considerably cooler because of the cold front. Highs on Friday will stay in the 50s, with lows in the 40s, Johnston said.

Some showers could linger into early Saturday, but most of the weekend looks dry and cool, Johnston said.
