Excessive heat warning issued for Dallas-Fort Worth through Sunday

An excessive heart warning was issued Thursday afternoon. In June, Dallas-Fort Worth surpassed the average of two 100-degree days with nine such days recorded.

Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to see triple-digit temperatures throughout the week and could feel heat indexes as high as 112 degrees this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued an excessive heat warning for the region that lasts through Sunday.

High temperatures are expected to be between 103 and 106 degrees, with maximum heat-index value expected to hit 106 to 111 degrees Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

In June, the region surpassed the average of two 100-degree days with nine such days recorded. In general, this summer is expected to be “hotter than normal,” according to WFAA-TV.

Between May 1 and July 3, MedStar Mobile Healthcare responded to twice as many heat-related calls compared to last year. Last year, it responded to 179 calls while this year it responded to 357.
