What’s open Thursday in North Texas during the winter storm?

North Texas is finally starting to thaw on the third day of winter weather. Here are the establishments open to the public Thursday.

North Texans can finally expect temperatures above freezing Thursday as the ice and snow that blanketed the region a few days ago begins to melt.

The conditions have made travel difficult, cancelled flights, and caused school districts, businesses and government buildings to close. Authorities are still urging residents to avoid all non-essential travel travel, as the slushy, wet surfaces of roads could refreeze.

Several institutions that have closed or operated under modified hours reopened for business as usual. Here’s what is open and operating Thursday if you can get there safely:

Grocery stores

  • Bonton Farms Farmer’s Market and Coffeehouse are open Thursday, but the restaurant remains closed. A spokesperson said the group is following the DISD schedule.
  • HEB stores in North Texas are back to regular hours after closing early Tuesday and Wednesday, a spokesperson confirmed. The stores will close at 11 p.m.
  • All Kroger locations are open for regular business hours Thursday, a company spokesperson confirmed. However, delivery will be limited through Thursday due to the weather. “We appreciate your patience as we work to fulfill orders and keep our employees safe,” the chain wrote on its website.
  • Central Market locations in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and Southlake are back to regular store hours after closing early Tuesday and Wednesday, a spokesperson confirmed. The stores will close at 10 p.m.

Entertainment

Libraries and government entities

  • Dallas public libraries continue to be closed Thursday. The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in downtown Dallas will serve as a temporary warming center for unhoused residents.
  • All Dallas recreation centers are also closed. Inclement weather shelters are activated in the city, and the Reverchon Recreation Center is the only shelter with capacity as of Thursday morning.
  • Fort Worth public library locations remain closed Thursday.
  • DART continues to operate Thursday, but is experiencing significant delays. The agency recommended travelers planning to use the rail services find alternate transportation.
  • Irving libraries, recreation and aquatic centers will reopen at noon.
  • All Keller city facilities are open as of 11 a.m.
