North Texas rain isn’t letting up: More storms moving through D-FW Thursday into Friday

The National Weather Service is predicting more heavy rainfall for Dallas residents

After a week of tornadoes, power outages and heavy storms, North Texas will see even more rain Thursday evening and throughout the day Friday.

Storms will be moving across the region from west to east Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms are expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Additional rain Friday is likely to hit the metro before 1 p.m., per the weather service.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to 15 high-water incidents as a result of Thursday’s storm, said spokesman Jason Evans. All incidents involved vehicles that became disabled after driving into high waters and people were rescued by having someone walk them to safety, he said.

The agency used a boat to rescue a city worker in the 7600 block of Greenville Avenue, Evans said. The worker reported being stuck on Harry S. Moss Soccer Field a little before 4 p.m., and the height of the water was “high enough that the worker did not feel safe exiting the vehicle,” Evans said.

The worker was not injured, Evans stated.

Dallas will be under a flood warning until 5 a.m. Friday morning, with a flood watch continuing until 7 p.m. Friday night, the weather service said. Periods of heavy rainfall are expected, with some areas receiving up to 3 inches of rainfall. The weather service warned against driving through flooded roads, as it is difficult to tell how deep the water is, especially at night.
