Chances of rain, storms arrive for Juneteenth, weather officials say

As tropical moisture moves into Texas from the Gulf of Mexico, the National Weather Service expects the heaviest rain to fall south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Chances of rain and thunderstorms are expected to return to Dallas-Fort Worth on Wednesday due to an influx of tropical moisture, weather officials say.

Officials at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth predict a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday after 1 p.m., dropping to a 20% chance during the night. The rainy weather could affect Juneteenth celebrations, as a number of events are outdoors.

Officials say severe weather is not likely, but heavy rain may occur in local areas. The best rain and storm chances are across Central Texas, with the rain expected to exit to the west Thursday.
