An upper-level high (also known as the heat dome) continues to bring heat across North Texas. Expect highs into the upper-90s to 100 degrees with heat index values approaching 109 degrees. A Heat Advisory is in effect for North Texas, including Dallas and Fort Worth, until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Try to do any of your outside work early in the day before it gets too hot. Remember your pets as well! Make sure they have plenty of fresh, cool water. If you can, bring them inside. Walk them early before the pavement heats up as the hot surfaces can burn their paws.
One bit of good news is the chance of a stray thunderstorm tonight and again on Wednesday. The chance is low and the coverage will be spotty but some lucky souls may get a cooling thunderstorm. Otherwise the forecast will remain mainly hot and dry into next week.
