Dallas-Fort Worth under heat advisory Sunday; ‘oppressive’ hot weather continues this week

High temperatures in Dallas will climb to triple-digits for majority of the week.

The final day of June will be marked with dangerous heat, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a heat advisory through 7 p.m. Sunday for all of North Texas as heat index values were expected to surpass 105 degrees by the afternoon.

Though there is a low chance for thunderstorms Sunday in locations immediately along the Red River, most of the region with remain dry.

Oppressive heat will persist throughout the week with heat index values between 105 and 111 degrees each day,” a weather service advisory said, citing the forecast for Monday through Saturday.

Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the chances of heat-related illnesses to occur.

High temperatures in Dallas are expected to hover at (or just above) 100 degrees through at least Thursday, which is the July 4th holiday. Low temperatures will likely remain in the low 80s as well.
