AP college football poll: Baylor in top 25 for first time this season; Texas A&M, Oklahoma fall

SMU and Texas still didn’t crack the top 25 despite big wins this week.

For the first time this season, Baylor woke up Sunday morning as one of college football’s top 25 teams in the nation.

The Bears debuted in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today’s coaches poll at No. 21 and No. 24 respectively after their 31-29 win over previously ranked Iowa State.

Oklahoma, previously No. 4 in the AP poll, dropped to No. 6 this week after barely beating West Virginia, 16-13. Texas A&M, previously No. 7 in the poll, dropped to No. 15 after their 20-10 loss to Arkansas.

For the SMU Mustangs, their 42-34 win over rival TCU on Saturday wasn’t enough for them to crack the top 25. The Texas Longhorns were also left out of the top 25 despite their 70-35 dismantling of Texas Tech. Texas was the first team out, receiving 131 votes. SMU received 44 votes.
