3 things about the Colts

1. Indianapolis has a complicated run game. Jonathan Taylor is still a top-10 back in the league in terms of rushing yards per game despite missing two entire contests, yet the Colts are one of just eight teams to average less than 100 yards a game. It’s not hard to figure out why this matters.

The Cowboys’ run defense has been an absolute weakness this season, especially in losses. why the Colts may not look like a team that can effectively run the ball, that can be deceptive. Taylor is dangerous. And the Colts, while needing a miracle, are still battling for a wild card spot in the AFC.

2. The Colts turn the ball over. Aside from the Eagles, the Cowboys might be the worst matchup possible for the Colts. Indianapolis has a minus-10 turnover differential with 21 turnovers and only 11 takeaways. Dallas has a plus-five differential, the fourth-best in the NFL.

All Dallas really needs to do is manage the game on offense. There’s no need for Dak Prescott and company to get pretty with it or take risks. Dallas should win the game by trusting Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott on the ground while finding CeeDee Lamb when the opportunities are given. Asking the same of the Colts might be unrealistic.

3. Indianapolis won the most recent meeting with Dallas, but history sides with the Cowboys. A 23-0 for the Colts on Dec. 16, 2018 ended a three-game winning streak by the Cowboys in the series. The two teams have only met 17 times since 1960, and the Cowboys have won 10 of those matchups.

Prescott completed 24 of his 39 attempts for 209 yards and an interception in the game. There’s reason to believe he can do better than that with this Cowboys team against this Colts team.
