‘Is it Hurts or the team?’: Jalen Hurts, Eagles downplay Micah Parsons’ MVP comments

Parsons questioned whether Hurts is in the MVP discussion because of his individual play or the team’s overall success.

FRISCO — Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons created a stir in Philadelphia when he raised questions about the MVP candidacy of quarterback Jalen Hurts.

“When you look at the Eagles, is it Hurts or the team?” Parsons said on Bills’ defensive end Von Miller’s podcast, called The Voncast. “It’s system and team. I’m not trying to make no enemies. I just love the game so much and I understand it so much that when things are off, I just can’t hold it in. I almost got to say something.”

Parsons was laughing when he talked to Miller during this segment, but few Eagles were smiling when asked about it by reporters.

“I’m going to worry about the Chicago Bears this week, mate,” said left tackle Jordan Mailata, according to ESPN. “Worry about this game. Micah should worry about his game this week, too.”

Hurts dismissed Parsons’ comment saying, “We’re worried about the Bears right now.”

Dallas hosts Philadelphia next week which could ultimately decide the NFC East title. The Eagles have a two-game lead over the Cowboys.

“My understanding, he was talking more about the MVP is always not being a quarterback,” McCarthy said. “I think there’s some personal opinion there about what positon should win the MVP. That’s another subject. I’m not into locker room material and things that go that way.”
