Cowboys’ Jake Ferguson set to join Travis Kelce, George Kittle at Tight End University

Ferguson is part of the famed summit’s newest recruiting class.

Before his second pro season begins, Jake Ferguson will spend some time honing his craft with some of the NFL’s top tight ends.

The Cowboys’ second-year playmaker has committed to Tight End University, an event led by Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen. The summit has gained popularity since its inception in 2021 and aims to bring the league’s tight ends together over the course of three days. This year’s event will take place from June 20-22 in Nashville.

The list of 2023 TEU commits also includes Philadelphia’s Dallas Goedert, Daniel Bellinger of the New York Giants and Pittsburgh’s Pat Freiermuth. Ex-Cowboys tight end and current Houston Texan Dalton Schultz attended the first summit in 2021 and said he found many lessons from the event, with a highlight being a 10-minute conversation with Kelce.

Ferguson, a 2022 draftee, provided bright spots during his rookie campaign. He recorded 19 catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns in 2022 while forming part of a rookie duo with Peyton Hendershot.

Ferguson and Hendershot saw their roles increase when Schultz suffered a PCL sprain in September. The Wisconsin product will go into 2023 as one of the team’s experienced options at tight end, as Schultz joined the Texans on a one-year deal in free agency. The Cowboys also added rookie Luke Schoonmaker to the mix through the 2023 draft.
