Cowboys QB Dak Prescott gets into the pickleball ownership game

Dude Perfect announced a partnership with Prescott on Thursday evening.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is getting into ownership.

Not on the football field, but on the pickleball court.

Trick-shot artists and YouTube stars Dude Perfect announced Prescott as a team owner for the Frisco Pandas on Instagram Thursday.

“Pumped to welcome Dak Prescott as the newest owner of the Frisco Pandas,” the group wrote in the post.

Dude Perfect made a significant investment into Major League Pickleball in March, joining the likes of LeBron James, Patrick Mahomes and Mark Cuban as marquee names getting behind the sport.

The group, at the time, invested into the Frisco Clean Clause, but the recent Instagram post signaled a name change was on the way.

An official announcement was released Friday about the franchise redesign.

“We are elated to have Dude Perfect join the ranks of our 24 Major League Pickleball team ownership groups,” said MLP founder Steve Kuhn.

“They are so influential in connecting with young sports fans, and we cannot wait to collaborate with them to level up MLP’s rapid growth.”

The name Pandas pays homage to the mascot in Dude Perfect’s YouTube videos, and was chosen with the help of an online fan poll posted last month.

Pickleball was invented in 1965 by two families from Washington state, and it was named after a family dog, Pickles. The game has taken the U.S. by storm recently, including the Dallas-area.

Last year, Southlake announced that it’s building a $3.4 million pickleball complex that it calls the “Taj Mahal of pickleball.”

And in March, USA Pickleball announced that it will move its national championship from southern California to Farmers Branch in November.

The Pandas’ next MLP tournament starts June 15 in San Clemente, Calif.
