Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith react to death of ‘gentle giant’ Larry Allen

Allen, a Cowboys Ring of Honor member, passed away Sunday while vacationing with his family.

The football world was hit with stunning news on Monday as the Dallas Cowboys announced the death of Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Allen.

Allen, a Cowboys Ring of Honor member and Super Bowl champion, passed away while vacationing with his family, the team said. He was 52.

“Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL,” the Cowboys said in a statement. “His versatility and dependability were also signature parts of his career. Through that, he continued to serve as inspiration for many other players, defining what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor and winner.”

Former teammates, current Cowboys players and other prominent football figures also shared their condolences on social media following the announcement.
