Dallas Cowboys keep busy workout schedule rolling ahead of training camp

Like recent signees Willie Harvey Jr. and Gareon Conley, Tuesday’s workout group spent the spring competing in the UFL.

A week after signing two ex-UFL players, the Dallas Cowboys brought in four more options to keep an eye on.

The Cowboys hosted four players for workouts Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Dallas Morning News. Among those in the building were defensive linemen Jonathan Garvin, Wyatt Ray and Derick Roberson. Running back John Lovett was the only offensive player in the group.

Dallas has found success in kicking the tires on former spring football standouts. KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey, who spent time in the USFL, both became Pro Bowl selections in their first NFL seasons.

Lovett was one of the UFL’s top running backs this past season, rushing for 423 yards and five touchdowns to rank fourth in the league. Meanwhile, Ray (24 total tackles, 5.5 sacks), Roberson (32 total tackles, 4.5 sacks) and Garvin (20 total tackles, 3.5 sacks) were productive on defense.

With training camp less than a month away, the Cowboys are still looking to round out their 90-man roster. Dallas still has two roster spots available.
