Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy discusses ‘ambiguity’ of entering camp on final year of deal

The word was used liberally during Jerry Jones’ press conference to open training camp.

OXNARD, Calif. — Mike McCarthy sat between Jerry and Stephen Jones in the press conference to open training camp, listening to the Cowboys owner work the word ambiguity into what seemed like every other sentence.

McCarthy didn’t have the chance to use the word himself. So, on Friday, in his first solo press conference of this camp, the Cowboys head coach was asked about the ambiguity of his job since he enters the final year of his contract.

“All of those questions where the term ambiguity is involved, those are fair questions, fair topics,’’ McCarthy said. “I just think that this is the world we live in. There’s a business component of this league and I think I talked a lot about it [Thursday] and I know you guys are ready to see the ball fly in the air and talk ball. So that’s why I’m here.
