Texas-Texas A&M vs. Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game: Which is the more expensive ticket?

The two games will take place on the same November weekend, one returning for the first time in over a decade and one having never left.

The last week of November will be huge for football fans in the state of Texas.

On Thursday, Nov. 28, the Dallas Cowboys will continue their annual tradition with the Thanksgiving Day game, this time against their division rival New York Giants.

Two days later on Nov. 30, the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies will restore their rivalry for the first time in 13 years, the Lone Star Showdown back now in SEC form.

Both games will be one of the hottest — and most expensive — tickets of the entire football season, college or pro.

One of them, though, will cost quite a chunk more than the other.

According to the secondary ticket market app StubHub, the “get-in” price for Cowboys-Giants at AT&T Stadium is around $130. Excluding standing-room-only tickets, that’s the cheapest you can find a ticket.

The same ticket (way up in the nosebleeds) for the reinstallment of the Lone Star Showdown in College Station two days later? It’s over four times as expensive at $600. According to StubHub, only 4% of tickets remain available for this game.

That may be even more surprising when you consider that Kyle Field has the ability to hold substantially more people (capacity 102,733) than AT&T Stadium in Arlington (capacity 80,000).

Of course, this is aided by the fact that it’s the first time the storied rivals will square off since 2011, when Texas’ Justin Tucker hit a last-second field goal to stick one in the Aggies’ eye right before they left the Big 12.

But if you were wondering which marquee Texas football game is more in demand, at least at the start of the 2024 season? That answer’s pretty clear for now.
