Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb says he’s ‘still waiting on that phone call’ in video post

Unfortunately for Lamb, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t shown much urgency in picking up the phone.

CeeDee Lamb was completely absent from Cowboys training camp in California, but it looks like he’s still managing to get his work in.

An Instagram post made the social media rounds on Friday featuring a video in which Lamb is seen working out, running routes and catching footballs on the beach.

“Still waiting on that phone call,” Lamb says in the video. “But until then, we grind.”

Unfortunately for Lamb, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t seemed in much of a hurry to pick up the phone.

Lamb is yet to join the team as kickoff for the 2024-25 NFL season approaches, the All-Pro wide receiver seeking a new contract. Lamb wants to be one of the highest-paid at his position, giving Jerry and Stephen Jones a lot to think about through the offseason.

“Control what I can control, and just be the best version of me,” Lamb says later on in the video.

The two sides met Aug. 15 over the phone in an attempt to finalize a deal, but that call didn’t end in a resolution. The Cowboys are offering the receiver slightly under $33 million per season, a person with knowledge of the talks told The Dallas Morning News. What Lamb is looking for isn’t known.

As part of his holdout, Lamb is subject to fines totaling $50,000 per day. Lamb also faces additional fines for one week’s base salary (1/18th of his salary) for each preseason game missed. The Cowboys take on the Chargers in their final preseason game on Saturday.

How long will CeeDee be waiting by the phone? Maybe we’ll find out as Week 1 draws closer and closer.
