Cowboys’ Micah Parsons reacts to CeeDee Lamb’s massive deal: ‘You earned every dollar’

The Cowboys edge rusher wondered aloud on his podcast whether the new deals at WR would impact the cornerback market.

The Edge with Micah Parsons returned Monday with an obvious discussion topic.

Shortly after CeeDee Lamb agreed to a massive four-year contract extension, Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons took to his podcast to congratulate his teammate. Lamb’s extension is worth $136 million ($100 million guaranteed).

“Couldn’t be happier for the guy. One of the best dudes in the locker room, one of the best players on our team,” Parsons said Monday. “To get the payday he got to take care of his family, I couldn’t be more happy for CeeDee. Congratulations to my brother, CeeDee Lamb. It’s a dream to be watching you, partnering up with you and suiting up with you every week. Congratulations on your bread, you earned every dollar.”

After mentioning the other notable receivers to earn extensions this summer, Parsons wondered aloud whether the new deals would impact the cornerback market. Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson, Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown and Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown were among those to land new contracts in the offseason.

Lamb’s deal is the second-highest for a non-quarterback, behind Jefferson’s.

“I think it’s time for a bump to the cornerback market. All these receivers are making $30 million-plus a year and there’s guys on islands because we’re in man, we’re in Cover 3, that gotta be covering these dudes. I think it’s time for the cornerback market to make a jump because these wide receivers are making $30 plus-million, look at offensive tackles, right? Offensive tackles are damn near at $20-30 million, and the best pass rushers are matched up between $25-35 million.

“Why wouldn’t the cornerback market make a jump like the receiver market?”

A.J. Terrell of the Atlanta Falcons was the latest star cornerback to sign a new deal, agreeing to a four-year, $81 million contract last week. According to Spotrac, Terrell’s deal has an average annual salary of $20.25 million.

This might be a conversation DaRon Bland, who hits the market in 2026, would like to monitor.
