Cowboys activate CeeDee Lamb from exempt list; elevate Nick Vigil from practice squad

After signing a four-year extension in the offseason, Lamb will be available Sunday in Cleveland.

Dak Prescott’s top weapon will be available for Sunday’s season opener in Cleveland. Not that there was any doubt.

The Cowboys activated CeeDee Lamb from the reserve/commissioner’s exempt list Saturday, officially adding him to the team’s 53-man roster. Lamb was given the designation around the time he signed a four-year, $136 million extension with the team. It gave him a chance to work his way back up to playing speed after missing much of training camp.

Dallas made a practice squad move before facing the Browns, elevating linebacker Nick Vigil for the first time. Vigil was signed in early August, bringing experience in Mike Zimmer’s system.

He tallied the sixth-most tackles in the nation as a senior at Utah State before being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016. After four successful seasons in Ohio, Vigil became somewhat of a journeyman, only logging two tackles in his second stint with the Vikings in 2023.

The Cowboys would be able to elevate Vigil two more times throughout the regular season.
