Saints QB Derek Carr receives fine for Michael Jackson touchdown celebration vs. Cowboys

He’s no Smooth Criminal: Carr faces reprimand from the league after his Thriller of a TD celebration.

Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints sure looked to be having a good time during their 44-19 rout of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

For Carr, maybe a little too much of a good time, according to the NFL, at least.

According to a report by ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, Carr received a $14,000 fine from the league for his touchdown celebration on Sunday in which he paid tribute to the late pop star Michael Jackson. Carr included in the dance the iconic leg-kick and, yes, the infamous crotch-grab as well.

The crotch-grab is virtually an automatic fine from the league, as former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch could attest. Lynch received multiple fines for as much as $20,000 for celebrations relating to such during his career.

“I was a dancer in my day,” Carr said on Sunday after his three-touchdown performance vs. Dallas. “Don’t let the four kids fool you. I had to lure their mom in somehow.”
