FEMA ‘inadvertently’ declared Cowboys’ blowout loss to Saints a ‘major disaster’

FEMA reportedly said the mistake was made while training new employees.

When it rained, it poured last week for the Dallas Cowboys in a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The Dallas defense had little resistance to provide Derek Carr, Alvin Kamara and the Saints offense as they routed the Cowboys, 44-19.

The devastation was so substantial that the Federal Emergency Management Agency accidentally sent out a release declaring a “major disaster” for the state of Texas, according to NOLA.com.

On Thursday, an email was sent out by FEMA with the headline, “President Daniel Largues Declares Major Disaster After Saints Beat Cowboys in Dallas.”

Not long after the initial message was released, a second email was sent asking that the prior message be disregarded.

“Today, the FEMA Press Office inadvertently sent an email to be used for training purposes only,” the release said. “We apologize for any inconvenience. Please direct any questions to the FEMA Press Office.”

FEMA confirmed to The Times-Picayune that the mistake was made while training new employees on how to use a program that sends out press releases.

Moral of the story: Always be careful around that pesky “send” button when dealing with professional email accounts.
