Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb fined for unnecessary roughness during loss to Ravens, per report

Lamb’s fellow NFC East wide receiver Malik Nabers also received a fine from the league.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been fined by the NFL for a play during the Cowboys’ Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Lamb was fined $22,511 for unnecessary roughness relating to excessive use of the helmet. The play in question was a Lamb reception on the final play of the first quarter vs. Baltimore. No flag was thrown on the play.

According to the NFL rulebook: “It is a foul if a player: lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent; or uses any part of his helmet or facemask to butt or make forcible contact to an opponent’s head or neck.”

Lamb appeared to lower his helmet into the chest of Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton on the play.

Adding the fine to it, the Ravens game was easily Lamb’s worst of the season thus far, as he totaled just four catches for 67 yards and fumbled the ball in the Cowboys’ red zone during the loss.

He bounced back vs. the Giants, however, with seven catches for 98 yards and a 55-yard touchdown reception.

Lamb wasn’t the only offensive player docked for excessive use of the helmet in this week’s wave of NFL fines. According to Pelissero, Packers RB Josh Jacobs was fined $45,020 for unnecessary roughness/use of helmet in their game vs. the Titans.

And fellow NFC East wide receiver Malik Nabers was tagged for $28,128 after two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties last Sunday involving gun-related touchdown celebrations.
