Micah Parsons breaks down the challenges Cowboys could face in Week 5 vs. Steelers

Parsons offered plenty of praise for quarterback Justin Fields, who has led Pittsburgh to a 3-1 record to start the season.

Micah Parsons may not suit up for the Cowboys’ next matchup, but that hasn’t stopped him from previewing the team’s upcoming opponent.

The injured Cowboys pass rusher took some time during his latest podcast episode to break down the challenges Dallas could see Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Parsons offered plenty of praise for quarterback Justin Fields, who has led Pittsburgh to a 3-1 record to start the season.

“I think Justin won the team over. Right now, Justin’s 3-1, he almost had a complete comeback against the Indianapolis Colts. We play them this week, he’s been playing at a really high level, man,” Parsons said Monday on The Edge with Micah Parsons. “Justin is really, really good. I think he’s proven himself that he belongs in this league and I’m glad the Steelers and Mike Tomlin have been able to get his confidence back because the Bears probably stripped him of it.”

Although Russell Wilson was originally slated to start for Pittsburgh, Fields took over the QB1 gig when a calf injury hampered Wilson. Fields has posted improved stats as each week goes by, throwing for 830 yards and three touchdowns with one interception while rushing for 145 yards and three scores.

The quarterback isn’t the only player Parsons highlighted in his preview.

“It’s going to be intense,” Parsons said. “The Steelers got one of the top defenses. Obviously T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Cameron Hayward, the linebacker corps. They’ve got my young guy, Joey Porter, that’s going to give CeeDee [Lamb] a good matchup. Minkah Fitzpatrick, DeShon Elliott, you can go on and on about these defensive guys they have and they’ve been playing great ball.”

It appears Parsons’ ankle injury hasn’t kept him from studying the next game on the schedule. Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday the Cowboys are preparing to face the Steelers without their best defensive player.
