Jerry Jones hypes up Cowboys rookie WR: ‘He’s got Dez Bryant stuff to him’

2024 sixth-round draft pick Ryan Flournoy could be making his NFL debut this week in Pittsburgh.

Do the Dallas Cowboys have the next Dez Bryant in their midst?

CeeDee Lamb may be the reigning member of the No. 88 club, but team owner and general manager Jerry Jones on Friday gave some shine to a rookie wide receiver who has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his weekly radio interview on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), Jones compared 2024 sixth-round draft pick Ryan Flournoy to the Cowboys’ all-time leader in touchdown receptions.

“Flournoy is somebody that I’m anxious to see him make his first catch with the Dallas Cowboys. He may be something special for us, ” Jones said.

“On a personal basis, he’s got Dez Bryant stuff to him. Boy, is he an athlete.”

The Cowboys drafted Flournoy — who stands at 6-1, weighing 200 pounds — No. 216 overall from Southeast Missouri State. He has been inactive in each of the Cowboys first four games of the season, but could be making his pro debut on Sunday in Pittsburgh thanks to the absence of Brandin Cooks.

Cooks will be sidelined against the Steelers after he developed an infection in his right knee following some additional treatment he received in New York last week.

Jalen Tolbert is the No. 3 receiver and moves up the depth chart with Cooks out, but there are more opportunities to be had in the passing game for names like Flournoy and 2023 draft pick Jalen Brooks.

“All of them, all three of the guys ... have the ability to just get in there, lock in on the other side of Lamb and really have a big day,” Jones said.

Flournoy finished the preseason with a total of seven catches, 53 yards and two touchdowns. Should he make his regular season debut this weekend, it will come in front of a national audience as the Cowboys face the Steelers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

“Glad to see him get this opportunity,” Jones said. “He’s been hampered by that hamstring since training camp — I think, given an opportunity, he could show out.”
