While we’re only a little over a month into the 2024-25 NFL season, roster holes are beginning to be looked at and predicted how teams will address them in the upcoming draft.

It’s no secret that the Cowboys are struggling mightily when it comes to running the ball. With the departure of 1,000-yard rusher Tony Pollard to free agency in the offseason, Dallas is a league bottom-dweller when it comes to running the ball. They currently rank dead last out of all 32 NFL teams for total rushing yards per game at 77.2.

Jeanty through just five games has a total of 1,248 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while averaging 9.9 yards per carry. Those eye-watering statistics include a 192-yard, 3 TD performance in a close loss to No. 2 ranked Oregon.

ESPN’s NFL Draft Analyst Jordan Reid writes: “Jeanty is off to a historic start to the season, with the second-most rushing yards (1,248) and touchdowns (17) through six games in the past 20 FBS seasons. He has 841 yards after contact, first in the FBS and 255 more than the next-best rusher.”

Reid goes on to say, “The stats speak for themselves, and Jeanty would be an instant boost for the Cowboys as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield. Dallas is last in the NFL in rushing yards per game (77.2) and yards per carry (3.5), and tied for last in rushing TDs (two).”
