Micah Parsons updates status for Cowboys-49ers matchup on Sunday night

The Cowboys are hopeful CB DaRon Bland will make his season debut against San Francisco.

FRISCO – Cowboys rush end Micah Parsons said Monday he’s not sure if he’ll play in Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

Parsons has missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain.

“It’s still in the air,” he said. “Obviously there’s more than just me. I got to clear it with (director of rehabilitation) Britt (Brown), the coaches, the head coach. They want to make sure, obviously, there’s so many more games left and I come back for the best results. Sometimes it’s not always the players (to make the decision), it’s the people (with) the higher paid grade.”

Parsons suffered the injury against the New York Giants on Sept. 26 and was expected to miss two-to-four weeks. The recent bye week allowed Parsons to get three weeks of recovery with the opportunity to play this weekend.

“For me, it’s more of getting the sense of how I (get my) explosion (back), acceleration and things like that,” Parsons said. “That was the biggest thing for me.”

The Cowboys are hopeful starting cornerback DaRon Bland will make his season debut against the 49ers. He’s missed the first six games with a fractured toe. There was a thought Bland would return for the Lions game on Oct. 13, but he was held out.

Also, Caelen Carson (shoulder), who replaced Bland in the starting lineup, has missed the last three games.

Starting linebacker Eric Kendricks (calf/shoulder) has played 91.1% of the defensive snaps and he missed the Lions game.

Rookie starting left tackle Tyler Guyton (knee) was part of a crowded rehab group during the bye week trying to get ready to play again. Guyton was active for the Lions game but didn’t play.

The Cowboys’ spent Monday mostly in meetings with the expectation Wednesday’s practice at The Star will answer a few questions about the health of this team.

“But until we really get rocking and rolling on Wednesday and Thursday, that’ll be the real information, and we’ll know where those guys are,” Mike McCarthy said.

Receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) remains on injured reserve with a possible return after the Eagles game on Nov. 10.
