Mexico fans’ homophobic chant at AT&T Stadium delays Concacaf Nations League Final

It’s not the first time that a game between the two sides has been stopped due to the chant.

In another instance of fans of the Mexican National Team using a chant containing a homophobic slur, the Concacaf Nations League final at AT&T Stadium was paused multiple times on Sunday.

The United States won 2-0 over Mexico in Arlington, but the result was overshadowed by Mexico fans’ chant that was shouted often towards the end of the match.

Former USMNT player and current Apple TV commentator for the MLS Taylor Twellman chimed in on Twitter/X after the conclusion of the match. Twellman criticized Concacaf’s protocol for the chants and seemingly called for closed-door games.
