Watch: Bryson DeChambeau hits incredible bunker shot to set up US Open winning putt

On the 18th hole, the SMU alum needed a big shot to avoid a playoff with Rory McIlroy. He did just that.

SMU product Bryson DeChambeau was scrambling on the 18th hole of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst on Sunday.

A wayward tee shot made it so that DeChambeau had to punch out his second shot from a bad lie, only for that to find the bunker. Needing something close to the pin, he hit one of the shots of the tournament.

After the immaculate third shot from the sand, DeChambeau would go on to sink the short put to give him his second U.S. Open and major championship victory.
