Report: Mavericks assistant coach Stephen Silas earns second interview for Rockets' head coaching vacancy

Silas has been an NBA assistant coach for 20 years, and in Dallas since 2018.

According to a report by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Brian Windhorst, Mavericks assistant coach Stephen Silas has earned a second interview with the Houston Rockets to become the next head coach.

Silas joined Rick Carlisle’s staff in 2018 after spending the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets. The Brown University graduate has spent the past 20 years as an NBA assistant head coach, including five seasons as an assistant to his father Paul Silas, who was an NBA head coach from 1999-2012.

Former Rockets head coach and current ESPN broadcaster Jeff Van Gundy is another prime candidate for the Rockets head coaching job according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
