Mavs GM Nico Harrison says Kemba Walker’s knee is ‘not good at all’ but can still play

Harrison also discussed how long it would take Walker to be ready to suit up for Dallas.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison joined the Musers on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket [KTCK-AM] to discuss Kemba Walker’s timetable to suit up with Dallas and his health.

Harrison also sat down with The Dallas Morning News’ Mavs beat writer Callie Caplan to discuss the state of the team.

How close to being ready is Walker?

Harrison: “Well, if you ask him, he’s ready tonight. But, but we’re going to, we’re going to you know, ramp him up slow. And I would say probably about a week is fair because he didn’t have training camp or anything. But he’s practicing. He’s shooting, he’s working out, he was running on a treadmill. So I would say probably a week or so.”

So what is wrong with his knees? Is it one or both of them that are the issue?

Harrison: “It’s one. It’s not good. It’s not good at all, but he’s rehabbed it. But it’s the best he’s felt in the last the last two years. So we’ll see how long that lasts.”

I mean, that’s, that’s not necessarily a validation with flying colors there.

Harrison: “Well, it hasn’t been good for for a few years. Even last year, he had 30 Point games on it. But it actually feels better now. So the reality is, if you look at it, it’s just not good. But it doesn’t mean you can’t play on it.”
