Remember that Luka Doncic pass to Jaden Hardy for the corner three against the Pacers?
It’s the one where Doncic saved the ball from going out of bounds and was hounded by two Indiana defenders but still rifled a pass to Hardy in the corner. Words don’t exactly do it justice, but Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James called it “simply insane,” if that refreshes your memory. It was one of the lone bright spots during the Dallas Mavericks’ plummet down the Western Conference standings.
Well, that pass was awarded as one of the 2023 NBA Fan Favorites — Assist of the Year, to be precise. Right up there with Doncic’s first-team All-NBA honor, which he received Wednesday night.
Maybe not, but the pass was still “simply insane.”
Haven’t seen it? Or just want to see it again? Here’s the replay. Watch it more than once for maximum effect.
Man that's SIMPLY INSANE!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/WqyIWKHs4T

Doncic’s pass was one of six plays to be named as a best moment. The others:
Block of the year: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Dunk of the Year: Aaron Gordon
Handle of the Year: Kevin Durant
Photo of the Year: Russell Westbrook
Style of the Year: LeBron James
The description for the Mavericks star’s award on NBA.com was “Luka Doncic’s creativity has driven the Mavericks ever since his arrival. On this play, his guile is on display as the young superstar earns Assist of the Year honors.”
Doncic gets the majority of the credit for the play, but he can thank Hardy for nailing the shot.
