The Dallas Mavericks are in the NBA finals for the first time since winning it all in 2011 just five months after being acquired by casino magnate Miriam Adelson.

After years of being synonymous with the Mavericks, Mark Cuban sold the team in December 2023, and though he remains a presence with the team, a new face, governor Patrick Dumont, accepted the Western Conference championship trophy last Thursday when Dallas knocked out the Minnesota Timberwolves.
