Olivier-Maxence Prosper shines in Mavs’ first Summer League win

Prosper poured in 22 points while A.J. Lawson scored 21 points in the wire-to-wire victory over the Boston Celtics.

For those in the Mavericks organization waiting to see 2023 first-round pick Olivier-Maxence Prosper begin to take the next step, he showed something Friday vs. the Boston Celtics in Las Vegas.

Prosper had his best game of the summer, scoring 22 points on efficient 8-for-14 shooting. He also grabbed two rebounds and dished out four assists.

In addition, he showed off the defensive ability the Mavs saw in him when they made their draft selection. He had an impressive sequence in which he made a chase-down block, gathered the rebound, took the ball on the fast break and found A.J. Lawson for a 3-pointer.

Dallas jumped out to an early lead and held the advantage the entire game, prevailing 101-90. The Mavs led by as many as 15 points.

Lawson also had a great showing. He scored 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting with four rebounds and two assists.

Dallas’ 2024 second rounder Melvin Ajinca scored seven points with one board and one assist. Ajinca threw down this impressive dunk off a great pass from Prosper:

Dallas picked up its first win of the Summer League, moving to 1-3. Up next for the Mavs is a matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday at 10 p.m. on NBA TV.
