What to know about the renovations planned for American Airlines Center

Upgrades to the home arena of the Dallas Mavericks and Stars are scheduled to begin Nov. 1.

American Airlines Center, the home of the Dallas Mavericks and Stars, will undergo $30 million in renovations starting in November, according to a filing this week by the arena’s operating company.

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, the renovations by Center Operating Company LP will include elevator and escalator modernization, as well as adding 4,950 square feet of “floor slab infill” for patron circulation purposes in the arena’s concourse.

However, Stars president and CEO Brad Alberts told The Dallas Morning News that the renovation plans are yet to be finalized.

Dave Brown, chief operating officer and general manager of AAC, told WFAA there are no particular plans for the entirety of what will be renovated, but that the operators aim to keep the center up to date.

The start date outlined for the renovations is Nov. 1, with a completion date of Aug. 1, 2025.

One of the Mavericks’ new majority shareholders, Miriam Adelson’s son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, has told The News he aspires to build a new entertainment resort complex and an arena in the Dallas area. But he acknowledged that the plans are years in the making and that AAC would need upgrades while it’s still the Mavericks’ home.
