There are plenty of uncertainties around OpTic Texas. When, or whether, in-game leader Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal will return is up in the air. Can OpTic win Champs with Byron “Prolute” Vera?
Either way, OpTic Texas, reverse swept 3-2 on Friday, will have to show resilience if they want to come out on top after the third Call of Duty League season.
OpTic Texas was tested in every mode Friday, for better or worse.
After a comeback on the opening Gavutu hardpoint and a round-11 search and destroy win on Bocage, it appeared OpTic had its clutch genes online.
Then the series fell apart.
Texas was swept in the Tuscan control and coughed up a 100-point lead on the Bocage hardpoint early. Boston was right back in the series and Texas looked like the version of itself that bowed out early in Major III.
Boston closed the series in Bocage search and destroy. And Texas could’ve been in the driver’s seat for that map too if it weren’t for lost rounds with man advantages.
OpTic Texas won’t be handed anything the rest of the season. They’ve spent most of the year beating up on their opponents and earning their current No. 2 spot in the standings.
Every team OpTic will play during Stage IV is gunning for a spot at Champs. They are playing for their Call of Duty League lives.
OpTic is playing to find itself again, and has to do that in time to win a world title.
