After nine years of streaming on Twitch, amassing 7 million followers in that frame, Betar moved his stream over to YouTube. John Betar will help Complexity with revenue through merchandising, marketing and his own brand, bringing one of the largest followings in gaming to North Texas.

“Joining the Complexity team has been an amazing journey,” Betar said in a release. “I’ve followed Complexity’s success and I am impressed with their commitment to winning in top-tier esports and the loyalty of their fans. The connection with the Dallas Cowboys and the support of Jerry Jones is outstanding. I’m a lifelong Cowboys fan so this is a special opportunity within esports.”

Esports organizations signing big names has become more mainstream just over the last few years as the scene has evolved. FaZe Clan, which has a world championship-winning Call of Duty League team, signed Betar’s buddy Nicholas “Nickmercs” Kolcheff. Envy Gaming, located in Dallas in Victory Plaza, has signed multiple content creators, including “JustaMinx.”

If someone like Betar can bring more eyes to esports, especially in North Texas, the continued growth of the industry to stay at an incline. It’s already taking upwards of $20 million for organizations like the Dallas Fuel to get an Overwatch League team. The contracts in esports can be lucrative too.

Complexity landing TimTheTatman was huge, and likely won’t be the last big move with esports and content creation.
