Dallas-area resident Hezly Rivera put on a dominant display at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup in the junior women’s division at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.
Rivera is a New Jersey native but currently trains at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Plano. She follows in the steps of other WOGA gymnasts who competed yesterday such as Skye Blakely and Ashlee Sullivan.
Rivera took home the all-around gold posting a score of 53.350. She had top performances on the beam (13.800) and on the floor (13.450). Her performance has earned her a spot in the second edition of Junior Worlds. It will be held from March 29-April 2 in Antalya, Turkey.
She surpassed former champion Jayla Hang who took home silver with a 52.300. The reigning U.S. junior vault champion, Hang took the top spot on bars (13.700) and vault (13.800). Hang has also earned a berth to the second edition of Junior Worlds. Kieryn Finnell came in third with a 52.250.
