Watch: Dallas’ Sha’Carri Richardson dominates with 100m victory at Miramar Invitational

Richardson joins Elaine Thompson-Herah and Florence Griffith-Joyner in the history books.

It’s been a productive spring for Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson.

Last week Richardson’s group finished in second place in the Women’s 4x100 Invitational at the Texas Relays. On Saturday, she put up a historic mark to win an individual medal at the 2023 Miramar Invitational.

Richardson clocked in at 10.57 seconds to win the 100-meter sprint at the Florida-based competition. The wind-aided time is the fourth-fastest mark in the history of the event under all conditions, according to World Athletics. Elaine Thompson-Herah posted a 10.54 in 2021, while Florence Griffith-Joyner recorded a 10.49 in July 1988 and a 10.54 in September 1988.

Richardson’s mark on Saturday translates to a legal wind time of 10.77 seconds. Watch Richardson’s impressive showing here, which includes a celebration before she reaches the finish:
