Jake Paul-Mike Tyson ticket sales on record-breaking pace for AT&T Stadium prize fight

It took one day for the fight to become the largest gate in Texas state history for a combat sports event.

The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event at AT&T Stadium in July promised to be a needle mover.

So far, it has delivered.

In the first day of ticket sales for the July 20 event, which opened Thursday, more than 35,000 tickets were sold, garnering over $10 million, Most Valuable Promotions told The Dallas Morning News.

The first-day dollar amount makes the event the largest gate in Texas state history for a combat sports event. The previous record holder was Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders, which made $9,002,920 from the 66,065 tickets sold for a 2021 event at AT&T Stadium.

The Alvarez-Saunders fight hosted the largest crowd ever for an indoor boxing match (73,126). The aim is for Paul-Tyson to surpass that record, as well.

The July event is also headed toward being the largest attendance and gate figures in the legendary career of Tyson, a former world champion.

“It’s incredible that this will be the biggest fight of Mike Tyson’s career by any metric other than belts. Biggest live audience, biggest gate and biggest global viewership. And he deserves every bit of it,” Bidarian said.

“Him and Jake Paul is a 1-of-1 event, and you add to it the biggest fight in women’s combat sports to give female athletes a massive platform. Thank you to Netflix, AT&T Stadium and the state of Texas for being tremendous partners to MVP. See you in two months Dallas.”

The co-main event featuring Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano for the undisputed super lightweight world championship is a rematch of one of the greatest bouts in the history of women’s boxing.

The pairing fought two years ago in the first-ever women’s headliner at Madison Square Garden where Taylor defeated Serrano by a split decision that garnered global acclaim for both fighters.
