Southlake’s Korban Best sprints to a silver medal in Paris Paralympic 100m

Best, a Southlake Carroll HS graduate, took home hardware in his Paralympic debut.

Korban Best, a Paralympic sprinter from Southlake, picked quite the time to set his personal best in the 100m.

On Friday afternoon at the Stade de France, Best ran 10.75 seconds to earn a silver medal in the 2024 Paralympics T47 100m. He was only beaten by Brazilian sprinter Petrúcio Ferreira dos Santos, who ran a season’s best 10.68 to win his third-consecutive gold medal in the event.

In the preliminary round of the 100m, Best equaled his personal best in the 100m with a 10.78, before he eclipsed that time later in the day in the final.

Best, who is just 21 years old, played football while at Southlake Carroll, in addition to excelling on the track. He was born with ulnar dysplasia in his right arm. Ulnar dysplasia is a rare condition that causes babies to be born with a short and/or missing ulna bone in their forearm.
