Or with:

  • Taylor Hearn kinda, sorta auditioned for the starting rotation. If we are using the theater analogy, let’s just say he didn’t get a call back. Or make it through the first inning. I’m not sure what’s more disconcerting: Hearn’s career 72.00 ERA in two starts or that Hearn has now allowed nine homers in just 36 innings this year. I guess it’s the latter. In June, he’s allowed more homers (five) than walks (four).
  • Meanwhile, on Tuesday, I went to Frisco to see Josh Jung, Hans Crouse and Nick Snyder. It was a good call. Might be worth making regularly. Hope resides in Frisco. By the way, I’d pay money to hear Josh Jung simply talk about hitting and his mental approach to baseball. It’s passionate and deep.
  • Just another weird stat about Joey Gallo, who hit his 13th home run of the season on Tuesday. It came off Jake Diekman. The weirdness: Since Sept. 1, 2018, a span of 207 lefties faced, Diekman has allowed two homers to lefties. Gallo has one of them.
