Rangers’ Corey Seager takes jab at Astros, Alex Bregman during World Series celebration

Seager hasn’t forgotten about the Astros’ celebration for winning the AL West.

Even after winning the World Series, Corey Seager hasn’t forgotten.

During the Rangers’ World Series celebration ceremony following their parade through Arlington on Friday, Seager took a jab at the Houston Astros.

“I’ve just got one thing to say. Everyone was wondering what would happen if the Rangers didn’t win the World Series,” Seager said. “I guess we’ll never know.”

Seager was mocking the Astros’ celebration for winning the AL West division championship at the end of the regular season. During Houston’s celebration, Astros third baseman Alex Bregman trolled the Rangers in a clip that went viral.

“A lot of people were wondering what it was going to be like if the [Astros] didn’t win the division,” Bregman said. “I guess we’ll never know.”

The Rangers held first place in the AL West, or a share of it, for 148 of the first 149 days of the regular season and the nine days leading up to the regular-season finale. But with the Rangers dropping the regular-season finale to the Mariners and the Astros beating the Diamondbacks on the same day, both teams ended in a tie at the top of the division. However, the Astros won the regular-season series 9-4, which gave them the tiebreaker and their sixth AL West title in the last seven years.

Both teams met in the American League Championship Series with a World Series berth on the line. The Rangers, after relinquishing a 2-0 series lead and falling behind 3-2, won Games 6-7 in Houston to advance to the World Series.

The Rangers went on to beat the Diamondbacks in five games for their first World Series championship in franchise history and Seager was named the series MVP for the second time in his career.
