Watch: Texas Rangers World Series hero Jordan Montgomery gets his championship ring

Montgomery signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks after helping the Rangers win their first World Series title.

With the Arizona Diamondbacks in town for a 2023 World Series rematch, Rangers playoff hero Jordan Montgomery received his championship ring in a pregame ceremony. He signed a one-year deal with the Diamondbacks in late March.

Montgomery was acquired by the Rangers at the trade deadline during the 2023 season and proved to be a crucial piece of Texas’ World Series puzzle. In 11 regular season starts with Texas, Montgomery had a 4-2 record with a 2.79 ERA. He continued his high level pitching into the postseason with a 3-1 record and a 2.90 ERA, striking out 17 batters while walking just five batters.

Despite a wide range of efforts to keep Montgomery with the Rangers, a reunion didn’t happen. Montgomery tried to cash in as a free agent this offseason, but didn’t sign until just before the season started. The pitcher has since changed agents from Scott Boras. He has had mixed results in Arizona, sporting a 4.69 ERA through seven starts.
