SMU fans, national media react to Chad Morris getting fired by Arkansas

The ex-SMU head coach won zero SEC games at Arkansas.

Former SMU head coach Chad Morris was fired by Arkansas on Sunday morning, less than two years after leaving the Mustangs to become the Razorbacks’ head coach. He may have believed he was the right person for the job, but the results said otherwise.

He finished with a 4-18 record, and never won an SEC game, going 0-14. Two losses this year came to San Jose State and Western Kentucky, two proverbial buy games that SEC programs like Arkansas schedule as breathers in a long season.

While at SMU, Morris was 14-22. But he inherited an 0-11 team and eventually turned the program into a 7-5 bowl team in 2017.

The nation and the SMU community reacted to Morris’ ouster.
