Rice, 24, faces a charge of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury, police have said. He also faces a count of aggravated assault, which attorneys not involved in the case say is the most serious charge faced in the crash.

Additionally, he was involved in an alleged incident in May with a photographer, also in Dallas. However, no charges against Rice are being pursued.

The NFL has opted not to take any action against Rice as of yet, as the league wants to allow the legal process regarding the wide receiver to fully play out before dolling out any potential suspensions.

Rice was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 draft. He was one of the league’s most productive rookie receivers last season, catching 79 passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. He led the Chiefs with 103 receiving yards in Thursday’s season-opening win over the Baltimore Ravens.
