SMU will get to make its ACC debut on the big stage when Florida State comes to town on Sept. 28.
The ACC announced Monday that SMU will kick off against the Florida State Seminoles at 7 p.m. CT on ACC Network, as the Mustangs look to make a statement against the defending conference champions.
The game was regarded as SMU’s most challenging ahead of the season with Florida State receiving a No. 10 ranking in the preseason AP poll after its College Football Playoff snub last year. But three straight losses to unranked teams to start the year makes the matchup a more interesting and competitive one for SMU seeking its first conference win.
Florida State will have already played three ACC opponents by the time it arrives in University Park. The Seminoles fell to Georgia Tech and Boston College and face Cal this weekend.
SMU will be either 3-1 or 2-2 entering its first ACC game, depending on the outcome of its rivalry game vs. TCU Saturday afternoon.
SMU announced that single-game tickets for the Florida State game sold out on Aug. 22.
SMU and Florida State have never played before.
