Ex-Stars forward Michael Raffl signs deal to play in Switzerland

Raffl scored three points in Dallas’ first-round playoff loss to the Calgary Flames.

Former Dallas Stars forward Michael Raffl signed a two-year contract to join Lausanne Hockey Club in Switzerland’s National League on Thursday, the team announced.

The 33-year-old Austrian was an unrestricted free agent after scoring seven goals and recording nine assists in 76 games with the Stars last season. He also scored three points (two goals, one assist) in Dallas’ first-round playoff loss to the Calgary Flames.

Raffl spent the majority of his NHL career in Philadelphia before the Flyers sent him to the Washington Capitals at the 2020-21 trade deadline. He signed with the Stars as an unrestricted free agent last offseason.

Raffl initially joined the Flyers as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and went on to score 89 goals and 90 assists in 590 career NHL games.
