The Dallas Stars re-signed forward Fredrik Karlström to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday, the team announced.
Karlström, 25, appeared in five games with Dallas in 2022-23, all during the regular season. The 6-3, 200-pound forward has no goals and one assist in eight career NHL games.
Karlström was selected by Dallas in the third round (No. 90 overall) of the 2016 NHL draft. He has 55 points (26 goals, 29 assists) in 112 regular season games with the Texas Stars (2021-23), Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
With Wyatt Johnston (first-round pick in 2021) already making waves at the NHL level, Logan Stankoven (second-round pick in 2021) and Mavrik Bourque (first-round pick in 2020) appear to be the next young prospects in line for a shot at the Stars’ roster next season.
Karlström returns as one of the oldest forwards on the roster looking to break through from AHL duty to NHL playing time.
